End of the Fall, on to Spring

The Men's lacrosse team has concluded their fall 2016 session this past week. The fall was a hell of a ride and the team has a promising future. The team started to come together more and more and Tim Robins wishes the fall did not end since the team was doing so well.

The team finished off with testing, and the team did very well! Some very impressive times and weights put up but the team.
Although the fall is coming to an end, you can still keep up with the team and receive updates from the Yellow Jackets home website Here.

With the fall ended, here is a video to get you excited for this season.

A BIG Yellow Jacket!

The Men's lacrosse team had another busy week, even when it was time to go home. A good chunk of the team made their way back to Springfield, MA the day after thanksgiving to part take in a parade. The team go to hold the big yellow jacket ballon, as the balloons were a big part of the parade. Tim Robins takes a lot of pride in what he does with the team. He always wants to keep us close with the
community and always helping out. It is starting to rub off on the players as they are now always wanting to do the same. Here are some pictures from the parade!

Since the lacrosse team is always open to doing more with the community, feel free to contact us with ideas! We are always ready to do more for the community!

We also added a new social media site, Pinterest! Follow this link and give us a follow! More pictures will be uploaded here!

In the video below, I will teach the readers on how to string a lacrosse stick. Have a well done strung up stick is extremely important. If you do not have a stick that can throw well, it will affect your entire gameplay. Watch the video below and let me know what you think below!

Clinics and more

The men's lacrosse team joined up with a lacrosse club, 413 Lacrosse, and hosted a  clinic for all ages. This clinic went extremely well and was a great experience for both the players and the lacrosse team. It not only helped raise money for the team, but it gave the students an opportunity to coach lacrosse, as there are a few players who are interested in coaching. Coach Robins was extremely pleased with the outcome of the clinic and was happy that he was able to scout some high school players that attended the clinic.

The video above is just an idea of what some of the drills the players went through on Sunday!

Next, the program will be hosting a box lacrosse tournament to also help raise money. Like said before, fundraising can be tough for teams, but if you can do it in fun ways for people, it will be worth it. With that being said, a box lacrosse tournament is a fun way to get people involved. It is a 5v5 tournament including goalies. This tournament is going to be on December 30th so start signing up now!

Working with the Community

This past Sunday, the boys set out to help the community by raking up leafs of the streets of Springfield. This is the second year in a row the team has done this event, and it will not be the last. Coach Robbins is one who loves to get involved with the community. He has had players march in parades, work with kids at the Boys and Girls club, and has more events planned for the future.

Here are some pictures of this past Sunday!

This brings me to a question for the readers. Do you believe that teams should get more involved with the community?

Let us know in the comments!

The End of Fall Ball

First off, I would like to start out by thanking everyone who came out to our Chipotle fundraiser the other day! We raised a good chunk of change that will definitely help us out in the future.

The team played two games the other day against Stringers Shack and Bridgeton Academy. Although the team fell short in both games, they were very close and the team is showing a promising future.
This being our last fall ball scrimmage, our first game will be played February 10th at home against LIU Post. This will be a tough one as LIU Post is normally a top-ranked team in Division 2 lacrosse.

Ah, good ol' New England weather. There really is nothing like it. But, that did not stop the team the other day from conditioning. Even though the lacrosse team is a 'Spring Sport' they do play in a good chunk of winter weather. Which brings up a question for the readers, do you believe spring sports should start later? Or stick to what they are doing already? Leave your comments below!

The Men's Lacrosse team of American International College have been through many ups and downs in their programs history. The program needed some sort of change to get the program back on the right page. The athletic department and players believe that answer would be the new coach Tim Robbins. Robbins has coached a phew programs in his past all ranging from division 3 to division one. The record with the team may not show improvement, but the environment and new players coming in show that the program is ready for the change.

The team traveled out to Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York to part take in a breast cancer awareness round robin. Roger Williams and Vassar college were the other two teams partaking in the round robin. The team played hard and was able to see where the improvements are needed. There, Vassar College was selling shirts that had all proceeds going to charity. All three programs were able to raise a total of $3,000.

Fundraising can be difficult for all college programs. Unless boosters or donations come into play, it is hard for programs to get what they need. With that being said, the lacrosse team would love for your help. So if you love Chipotle, come down to Chicopee MA chipotle and come buy a burrito! 50% of the proceeds come back to the program.
Here is a link to the flyer!

Lastly, here is a video of the team!
